The Celebrating Daivadnya:
TWe are predominantly found in Goa and coastal Karnataka and Maharashtra. Konkani is the mother-tongue for most Daivadnyas. Our origins can be traced to Goa where we are known as Gomantaka Daivajna, derived from the term 'Daiva' which means pertaining to God and 'jna' to know. We were mainly artisans, craftsmen and farmers in ancient Goa who spoke Konkani.
